Welcome to my home! As an interior designer, it was such a treat to get to design my dream home. After purchasing my childhood home from my parents, I renovated the house to make it into a space of my own.

My goals for the renovation were:

1. Open up the house even more

2. Create a seamless indoor-outdoor great room/entertaining space that was both comfortable and elegant

3. Modernize the look with a touch of coastal and nautical style

I started by analyzing what we had and what we needed to change. To create a functional indoor-outdoor environment, it was crucial to design a space that could hold up to the elements. The great room sees a lot of use, which means I needed fabrics that were not only durable, but also provide comfort, softness and are easy to clean for once the inevitable spill happens.

That's where Sunbrella comes in! Sunbrella has been my go-to in my clients' homes because the fabrics are elegant, durable, and come in a wide variety of textures and styles. Sunbrella was the perfect choice for my home because it stands up to the wear and tear of daily life (think dogs and kids, movie nights, working from home…all taking place in the great room), while still looking beautiful.

I reupholstered my great room (sofa, chairs, and ottomans) with Sunbrella fabrics, choosing a blue and white color palette to create a nautical, coastal feeling — reflecting the home's setting on a cliff above the Back Bay in Newport Beach with a view of the Harbor and the Pacific Ocean in the distance.

I replaced what was originally non-operable doors with fully operational bi-folding doors in order to create a seamless flow from the indoors to the outdoors. We're so fortunate to live in a place with such lovely weather and we like to take full advantage!

I added new pillows, all covered in Sunbrella fabrics with vibrant patterns for pops of color and flair. I covered my ottoman in Sunbrella Agra Indigo which I love because it has the feeling of animal print and elevates the space, while still staying in line with the color scheme and overall feeling. The pillows and ottoman add the perfect contrast to the crisp white sofa.

In the backyard, I wanted to create a complete outdoor living space. We installed a full outdoor kitchen and bar area, dining spaces, and cozy seating areas. I used Sunbrella fabrics to bring luxurious indoor comfort to our outdoor spaces to blend harmoniously with the landscaping and of course, our gorgeous view!

These fabrics are ready to hold up to UV exposure, rain, humidity, and even sticky s'more hands.

My experience with Sunbrella has been wonderful and I couldn't recommend their fabrics more for both indoors and outdoors. With the home now at the center of our lives, we're all spending so much more time in our living spaces, which makes durable and comfortable fabrics a must!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope you enjoyed my home renovation tour!

Anne
