Meet Anne!

Anne Michaelsen launched Anne Michaelsen Design in 1988 in Los Angeles as a way to express her creativity and meld her love of art, history, architecture and design. Her business flourished due to her classical education in the humanities and arts, as well as her more theoretical and practical training in architecture, design and construction. These attributes along with her hands-on involvement and understanding of construction, account for over three decades of successful projects and her resulting stellar reputation.

Often described as “defining the dynamic edge between classic and modern." AMD strives to seamlessly blend classically inspired principles with the most up to date design philosophies and technological advances. As a member of ASID and The Orange County Design Alliance along with other trade organizations AMD remains in the forefront of the design industry. Our leader, Anne, has brilliantly designed rooms for both the Pasadena Showcase House as well as the ASID Orange County Philharmonic House of Design. AMD has been awarded “Best Of Houzz” for Design by Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design, in successive years. AMD has been featured in numerous Southern California magazines and newspapers and Anne is a frequent contributor to design industry articles.

As Anne’s reputation for being able to formulate, articulate and facilitate her clients’ visions and dreams into reality has grown, so has the scope and scale of AMD’s projects. The organization’s team at AMD has expanded to include other professionals allowing Anne to personally dedicate herself to each project while the support team can give attention to the numerous details needed for successful completion of construction and design projects. One of the hallmarks of AMD is our desire to work seamlessly and collaboratively with the other professionals involved in our projects. We value our relationships with the top architects, contractors and trades and pride ourselves in our ability to build a successful team for every project.
